Don't they all run chevy design dart-based small-block 383s? I didn't think Toyota ever even made a push rod V8?

    No.

The spec is max 358 ci.

All three other manufacturers are building their own clean-sheet designs, not constrained by existing street vehicle technology.

I don't watch racing now, never really did much even in the '70s, but it seems like it would be more interesting if they went back to running cars that at least looked like production cars. I don't know much about prepping a car for racing, but it seems like they could make the current Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers race ready for a 500 mile race. Or maybe even round up some old Caprice\Impalas and Crown Victorias from the '90s, and make those race ready. It seems like there is plenty of them around. That would be more interesting to me. But maybe that's just not practical anymore. Or maybe they know not enough people would pay to see that these days.

The races are just too long for this day and age. Everyone wants things instantly now. Few will invest 3-4 hours to watch cars run in a circle when they can DVR it and watch it in 30 minutes.
They need to run a Saturday night short track series that's aired live and takes no longer than 2 hours - and that's pushing it.
100 laps max and change it up a bit by adding anyone as a driver that can pass a basic skills and safety test much like the Driving Experience schools do. Think Ninja Warrior in Stock Cars. Basically take the local short track series that happens all over America every weekend and make it a National event. Different track every week in a 20 week series. Pro drivers mixed in with a few locals. It would be epic.

( before Winston cup ) . wasn't a ban , just no factory support . if you look at the 69 -70 standings not a chevy or Pontiac in the field ..In 1970 something else happened that would change the way GM’s involvement in racing would work when GM decided to get back into NASCAR. While there seems to be no clear information stating that the GM Corporate ban on racing was lifted, it was certainly relaxed, and GM would re-engage NASCAR racing in the same way it did with Trans Am; through GM Performance Parts

NHRA is also losing viewership , might as well dissolve that !!!

Watching a NHRA Nationals event even the Sportsman series is like watching paint dry !!

3 sec 1/8th mile Door car racing is more exciting , hell even street racing is more exciting !!

Agree. Guess I should have eloborated, or re-worded. They were using Danica to try and entice female interest....the same can be said about Bubba Wallace...nothing at all in regards to sucess level.

NASCAR is giving Hailie Deegan a lot of publicity as the next Female NASCAR Cup driver

If you know Brian Deegan a well known X Games and MotoCross competitor ,that's his daughter
