I use both snipers strictly as carb replacements,no timing control or anything else.Im not a whiz either,so I lessen the problem curve.I know alot of people have trouble with msd boxes with them also.Sniper will tell you everything that's wrong with your car, since it needs things perfect, which the carb didnt care about, lol.Krabben,
It's been awhile since I've been on. Glad to see all is coming together. I too put a Sniper on. Nothing but issues. Except the IAC thing, did you have any other issues. Me, it wouldn't work with my Megajolt EDIS crank trigger iginition. (still trying to get right) Put in Distr/coil and wouldn't let me get out the neighborhood. I found a tech to write me a tune and he said i have too much RFI. Fighting that right now. Let me know any good tips.
I would visit the Holley Sniper tech forums for searching, but the admins there seem to grow tired of the exact thing theyre there for,so,I would recommend the holley sniper owners page on facebook. There are alot of smarties there for live help, and the techs chime in too. There's also a few guys on there you can download a tune from your unit and send it too them for analysis and program for you.
Also,on the rfi thing,if youve ran all your wires correctly, crossing other wires at 90*,it could be anything else.I know a few guys were buying shielding wrap for the wires on amazon to fix that issue.
I feel while the FI is great, the sniper makes a car less reliable, given all the new electronic bits and pieces that could fail.As opposed to a carb, mechanical fuel pump combo.
For my camaro,it was definetly a nice(although expensive overall)upgrade. For my 67 chevelle,I could go back to a carb with that car and be happy.
