Finally put everything together, fired right up.Front end looks ok,but Ill keep an eye on the height.
Also having some high idle issues with sniper,so I'll have to look at it tommorrow.I just put everything back where it was before teardown.
Car feels alot stronger now,so I guess there was a performance improvement.

Broke my heart to jam that 6 foot digging bar up under the car to move that header off of the LCA boss, drivers side, but I did,and it move a light 3/8".So Im hoping that's it for that.
Also took care of my high idle issue, another test drive tomorrow.
And I had ordered slightly longer intake pushrods than before.Went from a 7.80 to a 7.85.
Glad I switched to aluminums, but I'll never go raised exhaust ports again on a street car.

Camaro said it wants more attention, lol.
I had moved that header over, turns out it went right back to digging into the LCA boss midway thru the drive.
It's rubbing on the collector bracket that encircles the collector socket, thinner part.
So today Im going to see if there's enough room for me to remove the header with the downpipe attached in my garage,on my cribs.
If there is,Im welding my ball and socket connection.I don't see a way to save that ring with the amount of material I'd have to remove.
And that 16 guage header is too beefy to bend.
That's this afternoons bout,hopefully.

I had a similar situation with my 72 C10, (they bent the header unloading off the flatbed) I wrapped a strap around the collector and pulled it back into place with the 12k pound winch on my truck (a little bit at a time). Do you know anyone with a winch. This could also be done on a frame machine.

I wound up grinding the collector bracket.I decided not to weld at this point. The connection on the pipes end was slipfit,so there wasnt enough room to get the pipe out connected to the header.I wouldve had to slice the pipe and put another clamp in.Oxygen sensor is right there,so I didnt want to do that.
I'll keep an ear out for it.

Colder here today than I thought it would be,but I glued down the intake, put the temp sensor in the intake since the new heads dont have a port for it.
Also put my blue vcs on.Ill put tge distributor in and drain tbe oil, rehook up the sniper and wires in the next couple days.

curious why they don't have a temp port. Also does your intake have a rear coolant runner?
I've been chasing a temp issue in my big block. there is about a 30 degree temp difference in the Head and the intake. not sure if its because of the temp sensor being between 2 exhaust ports, or the intake not having the rear coolant runner. The head temp will get around 240 before the 160 thermostat begins to open. If I turn on my heater and let the heater help circulate the hot water, the head temp usually doesn't get above 220, and once the thermostat opens it falls down to 190 ish without my electric fans on. Pretty sure I can run without fans with this radiator, but haven't sat in traffic during a Texas summer yet.

Part of the downstream issue is that the fuel injection switches modes once over 170. It takes a long time to get over 170 since the fuel injection temp sensor is in the intake, and not the head. This causes some erratic high idles until its warmed up.

I dont have a rear crossover. My temps are pretty consistent,I removed my heatercore hoses awhile ago.
You can go into your programming and set it to start learning at 160* I would think.Sniper is supposed to be set at that from the factory.
