typical....I even duct taped my T-Tops for my initial shake down run.....they are too expensive to loose!
But, Officer.... I wasn't driving when the car left the road!

probably had oblong holes in the hinges, didn't line up with the striker properly, and swung open
the real dumb thing here is not wearing the seat belt though, even a lap belt should have prevented that
