I live in Victoria, welcome to the dysfunction. I'm 2 years into my 1980 if there is any help I can offer fell free to send me PMs or posts anytime.

If the company you work for doesn't have a Lordco commercial account go talk to the Lordco manager and get your own account set up to get discount pricing.

Looks like a good start. I would make sure to pay close attention to those floors. Once cleaned you may start to find pin holes. Looking forward to seeing the progress

Welcome, looks like a good project.
What type of build are you looking to do? Daily driver or more than that.

Here is a decode for you.

    B 02D 1FP87L084849
    19C 19L 19U W
    A51 CC1 B38195187

    B = 1981 model year
02D - Built the second week of February
1FP87 - Camaro Sport Coupe (all models, minus the Berlinetta)
L - Built at the Van Nuys (Los Angeles), California plant
    084849 - Build number
19C - Black custom cloth interior
19L, 19U W - Black upper and lower water based paint
A51 - Bucket seats (standard on all models)
    CC1 - T-tops
B - Black dash, steering wheel, and center console
    3 - Power windows
    8 - RPO Z28
    195187 - Sequential number

1G1AP87L2BL - This confirms it is a Z28 as the L in the VIN is for a 5.7L 350ci V8 engine (RPO code LM1) which was only available on that model in 1981.

To confirm it was originally a manual transmission car you'd have to find the build sheet or get the documentation through Vintage Vehicle Services http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206837, but seeing as it has an uncut floor with a manual transmission hump, that would confirm it for me.

    Good luck on your project!

While I appreciate a car built for show, I want something to drive without worrying too much about a rock chip here ant there.

My plan is to have it on the road for spring next year as a safe Z28

then pick a major project for each winter and ready for spring/summer cruising

I an estimating about a 6 year project 5 months at a time.

6 years from now I envision an LS powered canyon carver, mini tubbed to tuck 335s and a 4 link.
