I know this was a very rare option for some early 2nd gen Camaros so I thought I would post it because someone might just have a car which was built with the dispensers for this stuff.

Correct, just 1969 model year. An aerosol can was placed in the holder over the rear tires. When activated by a remote linkage, the solution sprayed onto the rear tires, supposed to make ONE revolution of the tires, wait, and usually drive off. Mainly for icy conditions.

A former associate was working at a Chevy dealer in Irving, TX in the early 1970s. One winter, there was an icy patch near the dealership which was clogging traffic. So my friend had known the parts dept has a few cases of the canisters. He and another guy went out to the stopped motorists, offered to spray their tires, then guide them to slowly spin the rear wheels (to distribute the solution), wait about a minute, then they could drive of. Got something like $5 per car, IIRC. Got the line moving again. Got rid of the canisters too.
