So about 2 years ago my son got me into snowboarding. (You can see where this is going)... we took lessons, and snowboarded the whole day (after I literally had a complete meltdown, 3 year old girl temper tantrum nd cussing the instructor for about 13 minutes straight... dead square in the middle of the mountain in front of about 80 gawking people after falling on my knees about 250 times. LOL... to make me fell better, my son plowed me over at the bottom of the hill after I made it down after a 3 hour decent... the hill was maybe 300 feet long, smh. So... last year we went 3 times and we were both pretty good (only falling a few times each run), but that was on the little PA mountains (Blue Mountain and Camelback). heh... THIS year.... we've got no snow, we're probably getting no snow ... so I did what any one would do........ I booked a short trip to Vermont (Killington), just me and him. As of right most of the trails open are the harder ones... please pray yer azzez off that it stays cold so that they can get and make enough snow that the easy trails are open!!!!!!! Hahahahaaaaa... this is gonna be interesting. This is gonna be us:
Killington is known the world over for extremely technical mogul runs... I advise you avoid them...lol ETA.. anyplace that has "Killing" in the name should be a clue... bwahahahaha!
I'm an avid skier and have been for more than a few years. Many MANY years ago I tried snowboarding, rented one of the first boards apparently designed for use on powder, tried running on a groomed run. That did not work out well and I've stuck with skis ever since! Have fun and try not to break anything!!
LOL... yeah I bought a board (Salomon Villain, supposedly good for what I want to do) over the summer because I knew he was going to keep wanting to go. I rented one for him ($90 for the whole season...easy decision)...... and then...... no freaking snow!!!!! I ski-ed Killington once (and Smuggler's Notch and a couple others up there too) when I was young and in shape (blues and occasional black, no double black)... now I'm just going to be a middle aged fat guy farting, wheezing and falling down the mountain on the greens, lol.
here's a clue.. fall backward into the mountain. NOT down the mountain... werd homie. remember.. fall up the mountain, not down. I have skied all over Europe as a younger guy... glaciers are fast and exciting, but really suck when you go down...lol ice hurts more than powder..
Is controlled falling considered falling? Seriously though... I think I've gotten the hang of it for the most part. My problem is when other people are around and get too close and I pay attention to them and not what I'm doing... then it's blind luck if I don't wipe out. That and when I catch and edge in the piles of heavy stuff... I think if I was in better shape that'd be less of an issue, lol.
jim can fall up stairs, and your telling him to fall UP a mountain? thisll be epic, only wish we could all sit around under a nastyz tent with beer watching him. kidding kidding remember if you feel any inbalance drop your azz instantly kinda like a squat. itll control your fall better, and falling on your butt feels better than falling on your face.
