The track is open, the air will be good so I am going out to beat the crap out of the 406 with "stock" Vortec heads. Here's what's in it.

    .030 400 sbc around 11 to 1 compression
Stock 906 Voretc heads with my own 3 angle valve job. Stock rockers
Scat crank and 5.7 rods (forgot to clearance them) as the scat ones were junk.
    Elgin 1165P cam .488 .510, 234° and 244° on a 106 LCA
    GMPP (RPM style intake)
    1 5/8" headers
A whole bunch of carburetors, 850 Mighty Demon to start with.
    10 Jeg's 4100 stall converter.
    Turbo 400 with 4.10 gear.
Peanut port engine with all else the same ran 11.78@113mph best.

What do you think this combo will run? I am saying 11.60's@114mph. The heads are the big if factor here, have never used a set at the track on a decent short block.

Curious to see ET vs MPH with the 906 Vortecs. I'll go 11.40's @ ~117. Kid's best in a stock weight 3rd gen with same setup except heads and headers was 10.91 @ 119. Pro Topline CNC 235 heads, Stahl 2" primaries. Good luck.

Good that your getting out to test this. Seeing that your loosing a couple of hundred pounds, I'll say 11:50 @ 115.

What is your starting line weight 1980RS ? , regardless, your ET to MPH ratio is almost bang on the money, nice setup, your getting everything out of it.

For some reason I'm not on board with these guesses. I'm at 12:30 @ 120 or so. Prove me wrong and have fun!

Ya the vortecs don't flow all that great - what maybe 225ish? I think you might break into the 11's but not sure you will see a 11.5 from that set-up.
