Wow, now I really don't like my flow masters
It's not all the mufflers fault, the pipes I have are 3" but not mandrel bent. When I first used the setup with a friend who used to make his own race mufflers the car was still 4 tenths off from open exhaust. I do have the X -pipe setup off my other car I could use to see if it's any better.
Here are the 062 Vortec's. Just need to a clean up, cut the valves and assembly.
Looks awesome !!!!!
The track tell's you a lot about the setup, and changes if they are good, bad or the same, the buck stops there, and it's made there too.
Question, did you track the vacuum reading for the different carbs through the traps ??
Well your cams pretty close to matching the heads, you shouldn't have any issues till you try to get up on top end. As long as you don't try to rpm the engine and find it's sweet torque spot you should at least get a solid low 12 at least, just remember if there hasn't been lot of racing track will be slick most likely. If on street tires a slight drop in pressure and don't burn inside water box. At best turn tires in water pull just in front or go around and back up in front of box where it's wet.
This keeps water out of treads. Spin till you see bit of smoke and drive out.
Stage up and wait follow track rule as most want you to prestage then let other guy prestage then both bump on.
Good luck and have fun. I envy you.
I think you missed the part where he already went and ran a 11.66
Nice runs - especially the 60'
I have a similar 406 with slightly better TFS195 heads and similar cam that has run a [email protected]+ with a more drag oriented set-up and that was with 3.73 gears too. Currently the car has 3.89 gear but is now set up as a handling car with a T56, but I bet it would still pull solidly into the 11s.
Anyway - congrats and most of all for getting out racing again! I'm looking at a autox event in early July.
Not this time as I did not have the vacuum gauge installed. Guess I should remember to put that back in. Thanks for reminding me.
The combo is a pretty good one and this has the potential to go 11.30's with some good air and track prep. On the 11.66 run the car spun just a tiny bit but that was not unexpected as the fox body in front of me hazed his tires so I knew that night happen. Was going out this weekend but they got over 3" of rain and I know that track is going to have trouble so I will wait. Next test is, 1.6 rocker on the intake side and Hooker 1 3/4" headers. We will see if this helps.
Are you making both changes before you go back to the track?
