    The GTO shifters are like that - but you can replace it with an F-Body shifter to bring it up some and get a better shift too...

    great set up from the GTO! you also are going to want to swap out for the LS1 oil pan. The GTO Alt is also a little larger and can contact the frame in some swaps so if you run into that just pick up the LS1 Alt and mounting brackets.
