Mav, not sure if it's inappropriate here, but do you have an eBay store you'd care to share?
That's great! What kinds of cars are you parting? I parted a '72 Cheyenne truck and all the parts sold quickly. Are you doing compact cars or Suburbans and what years? I've tried to find a few IROCs but people want to much for them to part out.
my user id is the same as my id here
lately I'm big into G bodies....Monte Carlo SS parts cars
I did 1003 sales and over $40,000 in sales last year just screwing around about 10 hours a week. I have officially quit my real job as of Wednesday and my full time job becomes my Ebay store starting March 1st. My goal is to triple in size this year, and be 8 times as big as a final goal.
My house in CT is sold and I have to be out of it on next Friday. I have bought a house in Marshalltown, Iowa and that is where I am moving. I am beyond excited! I sell mostly third gen camaro parts, and like Mav, my seller name is the same as my screen name here.
I started selling on Ebay just for a few hundred extra dollars a month that I thought would be nice to have. Next thing I knew, I was making thousands and realized I could gtfo out of corporate hell and I have. It has taken few years to get the courage up, and realize I could really do this, but as I said, as of March 1st, this is my full time gig. Time to kill cars left and right!
Pretty good. We also started selling as a way to get a few hundred extra a month. When my wife was laid off it became her full time job for the last few years. In total we've sold just about 10K items.
Our ebay biz grossed just over 80K and our sales are down due to my wife's arm/wrist problems. Fees really take a pretty good bite.
Gotta get the taxes done next month.
Yep, some will complain about the fees but they are one of the best marketplaces for certain items so you get something for the fees.
Grossing 80k in a year minus fees, labor, cost to acquire, etc.?
Depends on the labor hours.
I'm from the IRS and I need to talk to youze guys.
Go ahead. I am a registered business and pay taxes (and take every credit). I am all for going after those who do not. I know Mav is legit as well. If you make a so much as a dollar selling your used part, you should report that. I have no issues with the IRS looking at me. Bring it!
