manual to power conversion

    anybody have any idea how much a conversion from manual to power breakes would cost in a 76 with no power steering,the motor is a 383stroker,dont have all engine specs just yet any suggestions would be very helpful thanks

    depends on how much you can pick up used. let's see, you need a steering box, pitman arm, high psi hose, low psi hose, pump, cap, brackets. I'm not sure if you will need other linkage parts like a center link, etc., or steering shaft and/or rag joint.

    thank you scott, not sure yet if i'm going that route,the manual steering is not all that bad but where i live every street is a hill and some are very steep just want to be safe

    You'll need a belt and a pulley also.You maybe able to run two things of the same groove in your pulley.Mine just turns the power steering pump.

    I would take a reading of the intake manifold and see if you have the minimum 12" of vacuum first. Could save some money and hassle if hydro boost is needed in the first place.

    I have a 81 complete power steering set up for sale. Will that fit a76 ?

    thank you all for all your input,picking up the car saturday along with a bunch of receipts,if i remember correctly(that does'nt happen often)the motor is from 1970 i think he said a chevelle,once i get all the specs i'll put them out there and i guess just go from there thanks sean
