Moving wires on HEI instead of rotating it to play with advance curve

I wonder how much spark curve changes if I pull the wires and plug them one step further in either direction?

Anyone knows?

It wont affect the actual curve at all. If the distributor is properly installed, moving all the wires around by one terminal position will just cause it to not fire. You could chase it by turning the distributor, but there is no advantage to doing this.
If the root of your question is because you are running out of distributor range of motion to get it timed properly, you could move the wires whichever way works, or you could just move the distributor one tooth whichever way it needs to go.

Advance curve is tuned with the weights and springs under the rotor.
Lots of info on the subject here or the googles. Tip: If you decide to buy an advance kit, spend the extra money on the Moroso pieces, not the chintzy $9 kit.

Rotor turns 360 degrees, 8 terminals. One position gives 45 degrees at dizzy. Crank turns twice per dist. rotation so you'd see 90 degree change at the timing tab? Won't run.
