    Doing it right

Car looked a mess when you got it but you're doing it right. Amazing body results and the LSX/trans combo will make it better then original. KUDOS for bringing it back from the Grave.

    Back on my car again.........

Well the heat has been making it hard to get out and do something on my car since I have finished my shop. I bit the bullet today and started on my passenger quarter project

My car had a fender bender right below the body line from the door area to the back of the quarter....someone previously filled it in with filler and it lost the natural shape around the quarter around the wheel wells

I ended up pulling the dent as best as I could and welded in a donor patch at the rear of the wheel well at the body line to get some of the shape back. I also welded in a patch at the bottom of the rear quarter because of rust.

I ended up using more filler than I wanted to re-shape the body lines and the area at the rear of the quarter around the taillights because it was dimpled...this was bugging me, even the spoiler end didn't fit right

Funny thing is aside from a dent at the lower rear quarter on the drivers side...it was perfect and rust free....so I decided to replace the passenger quarter

    New AMD quarter panel

Here's where I am at on removing my passenger quarter...I cut out what I could and will be drilling spot welds next

I got my seam exposed here, still debating on the best way to approach this..

Cut the spot welds and slide new quarter under roof like factory or buttweld the new quarter against the roof in the dip area....it's going to be hidden by bodywork anyways

If I am going to follow some sort of timeline, I'm hoping to get my quarter on soon, get the car completely bolted up and gapped in. Then finish all of the bodywork and in primer before the colder weather hits

I'm off at Christmas time for two weeks and I hope during that time I can get the wiring finished and finally start the car for the first time since starting this project three years or so ago

It is great seeing another 71 being restored. I've got a special spot in my heart for the 71 as I practically grew up in one and did learn how to drive in one.

Nice work, and I dig your garage, I plan on finishing mine out but it will likely be after the car is done.
