    What a kuel story, and tracking the car!! Go figure, glad after the time and money you are enjoying the hell out of it , and I am amazed you are using the stock seats and belts on the track, would have thought you would be sliding all over inside the car, go figure , who needs the fancy Recaro seats and 5 point belts, keep us updated, maybe a track day video ??

    Pretty sure that's Sonoma.

    Interested to hear more about power steering fluid issue too.

    Nice build.

    I just noticed this thread, and read it;
    great find - congrats on getting it running, and having fun with it!

    I am curious, you alluded to a deal you made about hte car with it's prior owner;
    Was it that you were going to keep it and drive it for X amount of time, or that he'd get first dibs?

    Just curious.

    Honestly, I don’t know. I have installed high temp fluid at this point, though. At first, I thought I had a leaky valve cover gasket because I had a bit of fluid on one side of the motor after some of my track sessions. I installed some high end gaskets, and after closer inspection, knew that this was not the issue. I traced it to the steering pump. Another guy was having a similar issue and performed a similar modification, only he used an actual breather on top of his extension. His was similar, except he has the different top on his power steering pump, (pic of “other” type of power steering pump attached) so installing the extension hose for him was far easier. The top part of the reservoir on mine isn’t round, so a basic hose wouldn’t clamp on. I had to clamp it on the extra cap I bought, and drilled holes in the cap for ventilation.

    Thanks John, sounds like our cars are siblings. Any pics?

    I promised I wouldn’t flip it-but would fix it and drive it.
    Thanks Ram Air

    Thanks Dave.
    Borrowed a GoPro once, but i messed up and didn’t get any video.
    Yes, I’ve slid around on those factory seats quite a bit, and found that I ended up using the steering wheel to help stay in my seat!! My buddy was riding with me and was holding on to the bottom of the passenger seat with his left hand and the door pull with his right! Pretty funny.
    I still use the factory belts, but bought a new seat which helps quite a bit. I’ll post that up to show it. Thanks for the reminder.

    Bing! Winner! That was Sonoma. (In my head, I still call it ‘Sears Point’ though).
    That “Got blue milk” guy takes great shots from all over the track and since I didn’t have any pics, bought the disc from him.
    Do you run your car out there?
    Thunderhill is my favorite track, even though it’s a ways up there.

    Thanks!

    I captained a LeMons team - here's a shot of us passing the US Top Gear team (right around the same part of the track as your pic) on our way to winning that race. Love Thunderhill as well, especially the 5-mile (though I miss the old Turn 9). The Devil Car is dead, but I hope to track my Camaro for sure (I'm in paint jail currently).

    Very cool! I’m not good enough of a driver to run like that, but still having a blast.
    My buddy just ran a LeMons 24 hours up at Sonoma last weekend. It was funny to see a Corvette nose and tail grafted onto a Nissan 240.
    I haven’t run the backside of Thunderhill yet, but maybe one day.
    Good luck with the paint!
