I wouldn't see that as necessary because it's pretty cut and dry; It was purchased, insured, then it was stolen. Hagerty will pay on the claim and then put their legal team to work. That's what we pay insurance companies for...well, one of the things anyhow.

Yeah, everyone acts like lawyers work for free, without a big settlement their fee just takes money out of your pocket.

As far as cost, it does not cost much at all to have an attorney send a company or a person a letter demanding payment, or some other recourse.
I work for an insurance company. Well, I write for about 20 of them. I'll just wait until I see the outcome if he provides it. Making a claim doesn't mean you get restored to coming out even. Hopefully Hagerty does him right.
There are other issues other than just a car missing or money missing. (Hacked company records, leaked personal information, blaming client for the theft, etc etc)
If it's not worth it to the OP to pursue, then yes maybe not worth it, but I don't assume that for anyone but myself.

My best friend is a lawyer.....so I got that going for me.
Insurance Co are pricks if your State/Prov has no fault. My Mother was hit driving across a 4 lane rd on a green when 2 girls ran a red and hit her in the front pass fender and took off in brod daylight. Cell phones were out and the Cops caught her. My Mother’s insurance is doing everything possible to not pay her for sueing the other party. She’s 92 and I think their waiting for her to croke so they don’t have to pay her. That left her living in a home for the elderly b/c of many falls at home due to the knee injury from the drivers door. She’s on zero meds and would be still living at home and driving if it weren’t for stupid people.

We shall see, I will keep everyone updated. Hagerty says that they have to wait 4 weeks or so for the car to possibly be recovered, if it is not then they will pay out the claim. so, I am now waiting.. The detectives are waiting on information from subpenas that are out..
Not wanting to be an armchair QB, but I'd say immediately. But to be fair, the local officers may have done more than we know. Just wait and see.
Don't see how a lawyer can help. Sue the thieving tow truck guy and get the axles off his house trailer? The transport company is probably bonded but they never picked up the car. Just be real thankful that you did actually get the car insured at the get/go instead of waiting until it was in your garage. I probably wouldn't have even thought of that.
