Hey guys I need a little help, I have a 71 camaro i just recently started working on for the first time and have run into a little snag. I am going be putting in an LS3 engine and plan on buying a pull out with the complete engine and transmission including AC compressor. I been doing some research about the vintage air systems but have been unable to find out if they would work with ls3 compressor or everything i will need to do to make things work. Any ideas on what i might need? What will work with what?

Thanks

The stock LS compressors are variable displacement and won't work with aftermarket a/c systems. Just buy the compressor with the aftermarket a/c kit.

I've heard good things about standen compressors. You have any experience with them?

The stock compressor wont clear the subframe anyway.
I used the Holley brackets with my vintage kit. 5000 miles it has been prefect. When you order it have them send the hoses uncrimped so you can adjust them for your car.

If you want to low mount the AC compressor, you may want to check out the Sanden 7b10 compressor along with the low mount Dirty Dingo AC Bracket. The 7b10 is shorter in length than the 508 that comes with the vintage air kit. My LS1 is set back an inch and I was able to mount this setup. The compressor almost touches the subframe so I'm going to notch it for a little more clearance, but if I had the motor in the stock location I don't think I would need to.

^^ pretty cool but It may not be recommended to run such a small compressor and may not be adequate for a CA or CAA system. I would check first
