Need new tires...Radial TA's are starting to look rough

My old Good-Year Eagle GT II had lots of tread, BUT in between the treads they were all cracked. Replaced them with BFG.

I used a Sharpie, oil based paint pen on mine. Still holding after 3 months but I dont know what will happen when I wash the tires.
