Congrats Gramps. We just lost our 12yr old boy 3 weeks ago yesterday. Just couldn't post it on here. So thankful he lived that long & was very healthy til right at the end. But it sure is different around the house when he was there for so many years. Only young one we have is our 18 month old puppy. We'll get another one for him before to long. It's awful losing them, but the joy of having them in your lives makes it worth it
I'm really sorry for your loss, f-body. It's a pain a lot of us know too well. My dog was at the vet's for most of the day last week getting his dental cleaning. Besides being nervous as hell whenever he has the cleaning because of the anesthesia, I really miss him. I look over at the couch and he's not there or go to the fridge and he's not standing behind me with his look of "Whatcha doin'?". I just can't imagine how painfully it will be when his day comes, even having been through it a number of times with my other dogs.

Yea they leave a large empty hole when they are gone. The house is too quiet without the pattering of feet across the floors. The truck is empty with my buddy.

But the girls will grow up and she will be their pal.

May be off topic here, but I think it would be nice for members to post a picture of their best friends, would love to see them, past or present, dogs always put a calming smile on my face no matter what age they are.

Pic of our gold dog Scout. Fantastic pheasant dog. She went to doggie heaven about 2 years ago.

Before I met her, my wife lost a dog due to teeth cleaning. Only 4yrs old I think. Never woke up. She will not put any more under anesthesia unless absolutely necessary. And after 12yrs, Mugsy was definitely a fixture around the house & in our lives. My wife brought home a puppy from a visit to her sisters house in Aug of 2021. I said no, but was out voted. So glad he's here now. I couldn't imagine the house with no dogs. He's helped us through this more than he knows

When we got Scout we already had a older lab and middle age goldy. I was away on a business trip and my wife called me and said a friend of a friend had one female puppy left.
She said she wanted to go look at it. I told to take the porta kennel with so she didn't have to make two trips!
