Old but barely used hard drive

    Think I have about 5 laying around, lord I hold onto stuff forever, gota upgrade my current computer to SSD, those things rock.

    I use 2 hard drive magnets on the bottom of my oil filter and others to keep 2 pieces of steel together while welding.

    you could build a NAS around it. But now days 100GB is pretty cheap and available on a usb drive. Its an EIDE drive and its over a decade old so failure chance is pretty high..but then again it could run for years.
    So its either storage or take it apart for art and whatnot.

    Those little magnets are actually powerful! I wonder how they make them one sided like that? Super strong one side, nothing on the other.

    I have 2 old harddrives barracuda 1tb that are 8 years old and still havent died, kinda annoying. At 4 years I bought an SSD 'just incase'. Then 4 years later bought NVMe m.2 'just incase'. Everyday I boot this thing up and they just wont die. This is the 4th mobo, from amd bulldozer to intel skylake lol.
