Was the Parking/Turn signal light chrome trim an option on Z28s ??
Is this a Berlinetta standard option ?
What's supposed to be better, with or without ?
I've seen cars with the trim ...and others without it
    So...what's the trim mistery ?

The Z28's from 78-81 had black blinker and headlight bezels from the factory. The chrome was standard for every other model. I don't know for sure but I don't think the chrome was an option for Z28's, the ones you see were probably swapped by the owner. I really like the look of the black bezels over the chrome ones.

I think originally, they all had chrome cross hairs (standard, Berlinetta, Z28, etc), but...

A lot of folks had issues with the cross-hair on the parking lamp falling off... kind of a running joke. That is why you see many Camaros without the crosshair portion.

I *think* the area you highlighted in green is the crosshair and the front (exposed) portion of the chrome parking lamp lens assembly (two different pieces, not attached to one another).

wow ...so the crosshair (now in red) is a total separate piece from the
    one in green ????

I've just found this picture , and yes it seems that the Crosshair is the horizontal line and its not attached to the border at all

I've found these by the hundreds. Just check the drain at your local carwash circa 1981.

You can buy the crosshair portions aftermarket... and the parking light assembly as well.
