Progress...Kind of.

I will be getting this car in paint this summer. I have the paint in my garage. It is giving me the motivation to move forward. However, I hit a slight snag in door alignment. When I put on the front rear patch panels on the quarters the lower body line of where the door meets the quarter is slightly off. I might try to drop the door a little and see how far off the mid body line is. Worst case scenario, I'll grind off the panel and do it over (better this time). Anyway, it will be something I can't live with until I know it's right. I'll post more pictures once I determine if the panel has to come off and once I feel the driver side door is perfect.

PS door looks way better.

Only problem is this area... which I will massage (hammer dolly) out or weld a piece to fill it in.

Glad I took off the fender to adjust the door... I was planning on removing it anyway but see... under it all that wheel well needs addressing too!

And finally...what's keeping me motivated are these boxes of paint. I finally decided to go with summit racing system after seeing the beautiful job of the 77 to 70 Motion Clone project right here on this forum! Only $350 and more hugger orange for those door jams!

Epoxy primer has begun....

I've built a booth and I've started the learning process. I figure they will always make more sandpaper... righ? The epoxy primer from summit is a 1 to 1 ratio and so far I've seen no runs! It's been laying on very nice! Which means I've given myself the confidence to continue with the 2k, the color, and clear. It's worth a shot. And if I end up with the dreaded orange peal.....I say bring out the PBR and some sandpaper to knock it smooth just in time for the clear! This is going to be a good summer!!!

Pin Stripes were a pain!!!

Here is how I removed the old pin striping. I should say it was a pain until I took out the exacto knife, acetone, and scotch brite pad.

and a little bit of acetone / scotch brite for the remaining glue... The spoilers were easy. The poly bumpers were the hardest, but with patience the stripes came right off.

A little color on the jambs! Pump up the Jamb! Pump it up!

Well I have opened up this can...

A can of awesomeness and my favorite color!!! It took courage and too much overthinking. But I decided that I needed the lesser of the seen areas to be jambed out "sost" to reassemble the fenders and hood. Once those fenders and hood are back on I plan to sand the primer (scuff) and paint! I can almost feel the glory of
