    Ladies and Gentlemen...The White Stripes!!!

The Wimbledon White Stripes are on!!! I couldn't be more pleased at how they turned out. I actually lost sleep the night I unmasked all the tape. Kept thinking about how cool it is to finally see stripes! It took about 3hrs to measure and mask (with breaks of course). I used the specifications off of the 1973 assembly drawings. With a slight modification (extension in length) on the urethane nose (where it is often argued that the stripes never look as nice as they do on the early 2nd gens). Now for the next problem...to clear or not to clear this summit single stage urethane paint. Most likely...I will scuff and clear. Just the extra mills of protection might make me feel better.

Here's a look at the striping process:

Thanks! Now to scuff and add the clear before it gets too cold! Once that clear is on... I will be the happiest I've ever been. Well aside from the day I got married...and aside from the day our son was born. OK... you get the picture! But it is a proud day none the less!

    In the Clear!

Well... I am (the car) in the clear. Two coats of clear and I'm ready to be done for the winter. Next step... sand and buff. Before I buff, I'm thinking about using 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit. Anyway still lots to do and lots to figure out. Might get the advice as to what compound(s) to use. And this weekend... I get to tear down that booth to finally clean / reorganize my garage!

    First Ride...

Hey thanks! Yeah I can't wait to drive it again. It is pure nostalgia for me to even sit in the car. Being that it is my actual first car, it takes me back to when I was 16 and unafraid!!! My plan is to find a portable Sony discman (the way I used to listen to CD's. Also, I might need to find one of those tape things with the audio wire since my radio is a tape deck!) and listen to my favorite bands I was listening to in that 90's era....i.e. Green Day, Nirvana, STP, Jane's Addiction, Meat Puppets, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Live, Clutch, and/or whatever will make me feel like a kid again!!! Can't wait!!!!

Thanks Man! Hey cool you're in a band too! I just checked out your website. Our band is called "eternity at the wheel": https://www.reverbnation.com/eternityatthewheel

Aside from having an auto themed band name (although wheel could be referring to that we live in a wheel a.k.a. the world). All 3 of our band members own Camaros (1st or 2nd gens).
