Got the sway bar and rear brakes mounted for the final time. I also mounted the S10 emergency brake cables to see how they fit. I think I'm missing some parts and will need to investigate how the cables were routed when I took them off, but at least they are installed and now I can get that marked off the list. I also have a sneaky suspicion that my shocks are upside down
They do look upside down. I never saw glass all on outside of rubber, why I asked
The glass basically leans against the weatherstripping. Wind noise was not a concern back then. I’m sure they leaked right off the showroom floor too!
Not following you - how could they be upside down? Maybe you're thinking of how, over time, the window presses into the weatherstrip, forming a groove, as discussed in this thread. That groove actually puts a stress on the glass when opening and closing the door - that's why modern cars with frameless windows use the power windows to drop the glass a scoche on door open.
Shocks upside down. I always thought it went in the groove .
FINALLY!!! I was able to get some paint on the hood today. I have added another vehicle to my list of projects, so things have gotten crowded in my garage. I'm not used to playing musical cars but since I only have the hood left to paint, it won't be that big of a deal. I will color sand the hood tomorrow and get some a couple more coats of color to even out the metallic then the clear coat. Hopefully by this time tomorrow it will be done and set aside to dry.
I picked this up about a year ago for my son and had it sitting at a friends house til now. This is his 14th birthday present so I figure 2 years is plenty of time to get it rebuilt and road worthy.
2nd coat of paint after color sanding...
Lots of work, looks great !
