question about opening the coolant hoses

If your hose clamps are looking ordinary chances are that your coolant is pretty ordinary as well. What I would do is replace the coolant and all hose lines. These things are cheap compared to other engine issues that may arise from a poorly maintained cooling system.

The coolant and hoses are pretty new... I just hate the current clamps and want to do some rerouting with the sending unit :)

On the clamps I'd just remove the old clamps and replace with the worm gear type clamps, no need to pull the hoses off. Not sure what you're proposing with the sending unit, reroute the wiring or moving the sender itself? But if you lose coolant might be best to replace with new 50/50 premixed coolant available everywhere.

I'm talking about rerouting the wiring but it requires me to unscrew the unit. Reroute the hose with the unit and then screw it back again.
The unit is for an aftermarket gauge which contains a sealed hose with ethel gas in it so I can't just pull the hose and reroute it, I need to take the all unit off.

If your installing the normal hose replacement clamps that screw on I’ve totally unscrewed the clamps and wrapped them around the hose and just pushed the clamp end back into the screw and tightened them down that way you don’t have to open the hoses and loose coolant
Tried... Those are the clamps i have. Unscrewing them didn't work... They wouldn't open since they have build-in nut as far as I tried ..
