How about this?

1970: Z28 short 1pc. spoiler(rear only)metal emblem.
COPO tall 3 pc. rear spoiler

1971: Z28 short 1pc. spoiler(rear only)metal emblem.Assebly manual shows emblem changed to decal on 8/10/70.No front spoiler w/o D80.

D80 3pc. rear spoiler and front spoiler inc.

1972:Z28 no spoiler included.Z28 decal on deck lid standard.(1pc.rear discontinued)

D80:3pc.rear spoiler and front spoiler inc.
Z28 decal on spoiler

1973:same as 1972

As with most things this is just an edjucated guess, not necessarily fact.

I would add that the 1970 COPO tall is a LATE option

Good ole thread.........I'll always be sorry that jed14 "Joey" left the site. Cant even remember who/what offended him...but I MISS HIM......He is very knowledgeable and contributed often useful info.

Curious as to how much I can EBAY a 70-73 3 pc spoiler set up for $$$$$$$

I would also list as shown on this Website under Camaro FAQ's."The one well known 2nd gen. COPO is COPO 9796,the tall,3 piece spoiler for 1970 and early '71 camaro's.

here is a copy of the post i made over on the other thread asking these same questions:

http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76017&page=2

I have a April 1971 GM parts book that ONLY covers 1971 cars

the two Camaro spoilers are listed:

Group 12.181 Lid Assy. - extension assy. - valve assy. , rear compartment

71 Camaro w / spoilers 480161 1 25.45 EXTENSION ASSY., center spoiler (part of 3 piece unit)
71 Camaro 3974538 1 26.75 EXTENSION ASSY. (1 piece unit)

then under Group 12.182 PLATE UNIT - PLATE ASSY. - Emblem Unit

only ONE listing:

71 Camaro w/Spec H/Per. 350 3981899 1 3.45 EMBLEM UNIT, rear compt. lid extension (Z-28)

so ...

TWO diff spoilers listed

only ONE emblem listed

parts book is dated 4/71, published 4-15-1971

that should answer the questions for early 71 anyway - through April (and probably 70 too ...)

be nice to buy those parts at those prices today ....

I read somewhere that the front spoilers were not actually installed on the cars at the factory (to prevent shipping damage) but were shipped inside the cars to be installed by the dealers. Apparently a few dealers didn't like them or didn't install them for some reason. So even though all Z28s were supposed to have front spoilers, not all were 'delivered' to the customers that way.
