Hello!

Looking to get some help to verify if this really is a 1980 Z28 camaro. It does not have the original motor in it. And I was wondering how you could verify to make sure it was an actual Z28 Camaro. In this thread there is the VIN number and Cowl tag that is attached to the car. Owner says it is a Z28 but it is missing the Z28 attachments and looks to be just a Camaro.

Please help!

From the pictures it has fender vents, has the 3 piece spoiler in back, has the rear fender flares & holes for the front fender flares plus the tag says Z28. I’d say it is a Z28. I think the emblem on the gas tank cover is wrong & the missing front grill should of had a Z28 emblem on it also. What about the horn cap on the steering wheel, Z28?

Only Z28’s came with the blacked out tail light lens.
Your paint code is 84 Charcoal. Repaint. See if you can spot any original paint.

Here is a pic of my 80 Z28 4-spd I ordered new and sold it in 1990 with the original paint. I dislike body colored rims so I painted them the color my 77 Z28 that I also ordered new. No high res pics her, used a 35mm.
Top photo is from 1990. Last photo is when the car was a few days old.

It is missing the shifter and steering wheel, but based on everything else looks correct? Just missing the Z28 flares? Is there any other way to verify that the vin and cowl lineup? And it was not retagged with a Z28 tag?

Those are the correct lenses. It wasn’t unti 1981 when any Z28 ordered for the State of California that a 350 was not allowed, instead a gutless wonder 305. Like a 305 was going to help the Smog State? LOL.
