I searched for a vent on my diff. Didn't find it.
Is it mandatory? Am I missing some

There should be one somewhere on top on the flat area towards the pinion. Maybe someone closed it off and it's under the dirt.

You should have a vent, otherwise if the oil gets (too) hot and builds ups pressure, it will find it's way out through the weakest link: seals.

So there's obviously not in my diff.
Were there any diffs without ventilation?
Is it possible that someone clogged it? Should I drill it if then?

If you're positive there's no venting at all, you can drill and tap the top of one tubes and install one there.
Tapping? As I understood from other posts here, it should be pressed, isn't it?

I’ve never heard of a diff without a vent. Like already mentioned might be concealed by dirt.
I'll try to give it a better clean-up and search again. Thanks.

It should be a plastic piece sticking up in our 5th picture on the upper flat spot above the fill plug. I would assume it had been broken off and covered with gunk, try cleaning that area and see if there is something under there.
