Got the 73 back from paint and have started to put the interior back in the car. One of the things I have decided to do is put the factory rear speaker grilles in the car with some undermount 6 X 9's. The clearance between the right speaker and the full sized spare is tight, so I was wondering if anybody had a recommendation on a speaker that will fit. I am running a 75 watt per channel amp RMS, so they will need to handle some power, but not a ton. What have you guys used?

    Thanks in advance.

If height is your main concern I would go to crutchfield, sonicelectronix or some similar site and compare 6x9 dimensional specifications.

IMO 75W RMS is not a lot of power. I have 250W RMS going to 4 channels. Everything is crisp and clear with low gain. Frankly I would like a little more power for the rears but it just won't happen.

Let me clarify, the amp I am using right now is a 300W, 4 channel amp. It is an older model amp and fairly large. I am planning to upgrade to a smaller JL amp, but stay in the 75 - 80W RMS range. Like you, I would like more to the back, but no real need without hooking up a sub. The idea here is to keep everything hidden and stock appearance.

I like the kenwood 4 way 6x9s or any 4 way 6x9s for that matter. To me they sound better. I also really like the MB quarts speakers

That's irrelevant when looking at speakers, in reality. Especially full range.

That's a spec given at 1,000Hz. A 2" $2 speaker can be efficient at that frequency.

Got the JBL 6x9's 3 ways I believe, Sound real good but hang pretty deep. May work if you surface mount them above the panel instead of below it. $200 bucks and fills the car with sound. Kenwood head unit w200 watts.... No amp...
