I’m getting ready to weld these:

onto my ‘71 RS/SS (which did not originally include F-41). Does anyone have a good reference point for placement? Access to my ‘70 Z is not good right now or I would dimension from that.

By the way, props to Steve Nuwer for reproducing these brackets. Very nice pieces, I’m looking forward to adding them to the ‘71. :bowtie:

Hi Joe - I have a complete instruction sheet with measurements for locating the rear mounts, but this site will not allow me to upload a .pdf....so here is the photo with the locating dimension for the passenger side. Driver's side it the same. Hope this helps :)

Agreed, excellent quality brackets. Looking forward to installing them on my 71.

I'll never understand why, but my 70SS I ordered new without F41 came off the assembly line with those braces already welded onto the frame. When I decided to add a rear swaybar, it was a simple bolt on using all the factory parts.

Remember to use the sloppiest possible welds to attach them!

I kind of assumed that Fisher welded those on as the AIM does not seem to show their addition in the F41 section (they just “exist” in the details of that section - as if every car of the line had them and just needed the bolt on parts added).
So I would surmise there was a mix up on the Fisher side of things when it came to your car. Just a WAG on my part though.

I agree Joe...it would have been a pain for the GM side to scrape off the primer, weld, then re-prime, so they were probably added early in the body panel assembly process. Strange that they were added to Gary's when the F-41 was not ordered. Might have been training a new guy to weld..."Here, weld this bracket in place...this car doesn't need it anyway"

Just a guess, but maybe all SS cars got the brackets with or without F-41 being ordered?
