My questions is, I was wondering how to make sure you get the spacing correct between the glass and metal when I installing rear glass so that the trim installs correctly on the clips. I watch some vids they used some rubber spacers on the bottom and some used some pieces of wood but I don't know what size they used. I also have to drill and install the studs for the clips. Thanks for any help.

The rubber spacers are left there after the job is done or else the glass will sink (edit I meant slide) to the frame on a nice sunny day. I know from experience. Needed windshield suction tool to slide the glass back up.

In this day and age, if your old muscle car/hot rod has suffered from windshield/window sag from sitting in the sun, it's a possible sign the installer used Butyl tape, and one should seriously think about having the glass R&R'd properly with the correct windshield/window Urethane and spacers.

To the OP, one of the reason why I never painted the window channels. Properly prepped bare metal, epoxy primer with full cure and let the installer do his thing....no Butyl tape....ever.
