My 71 has a rectangle opening has a screw hole (looks like it to me). Is it for a light? Did not see it in the Classic Industries catalog

The hole is for an A/C vent.

Looks like this:

There is nothing attached to it on my 70, which came with a/c, but without a console. This is an original car and there has never been anything attached to it.

Just looked at both of mine Chuck. It's a rectangular hole with a small round hole by it. Doesn't appear anything ha been mounted there in either car. Could be a good place for some sort of light or diagnostic port. Never paid any attention to that hole before.

Why don’t you post a pic of your hole. LOL.

Thanks Phil. I had the same thought of being a good place for a light. Could use the gray dash light wire coming of the radio factory fuse. It would have to install through the outside because there is so little room between the backside of the lower dash and the long horizontal support rail
