    Hi,

I'm in the middle of a 79 Camaro restoration project and already have all the dash parts apart. When it came the moment to re-install i realized there's a rectangular section on the bottom of the lower radio panel which paid my attention.

This car came without A/C, so only heating /ventilation. What is supposed to go there ? Is there the ventilation outlet that goes to the center console, is there a map light ?

I looked at the exploded views, but it didn't give me any clue about what goes there yet.

I just attached a photo for clarity

    Thanks!

I can look in a bit at mine and let you know if no one answers sooner. I think it’s too high up for the heater tube that comes off the control box.

There is a flexible duct and plastic vent which mounts in that location.
This is what the plastic "vent" looks like.

That’s what I thought may go there :)

This duct goes in the inside of the panel I assume?

    Yes.
There's a screw under that part of the dash which mates with a clip on the vent.
If the console is in place, you will need a stubby screwdriver to install the screw.
