I hope she found more peace in the afterlife then she did while here. Her first two albums were phenomenal IMO. I didn't always agree with her views but I definitely respected she went her own route world be damned.

She was a truly talented artist, but like we see too often, gifts like that come at a cost, and people like her get taken too soon.

I read she had mental health issues all her life. And apparently her son died last year? I imagine that hit her hard.

My wife and I were watching SNL, when she said something like "fight the real enemy" and tore up a picture of the Pope. I don't think that won her any new fans.

I read that the Pope pic thing was done by her because of all the cover up that was going on over there that surfaced, after news about Catholic Priests sexually abusing all those children over the years...

"It's very understandable that the American people did not know what I was going on about," O'Connor says about the 1992 brouhaha. "But outside of America, people did really know and it was quite supported and I think very well understood."

She hated the money making part of music industry and loved humanity over commercial enterprise. She exposed the Vatican and its handlers over the pedophilia of many priests. Mother died when she was 18, mother had been abusive, married three or four times, a child I believe with each marriage, one as short as 7 days long. Everyone around her treated her poorly from what I can tell, including Prince who apparently was also abusive to her.
I think it is because of the catholicism scandals that she eventually recently turned to being muslim. Its a pretty sad story overall. And she was a rebel (Non-conformist) . I liked that about here.
