One side of my house gets hardly any sun so its practically dirt. Looking at putting some sod down. Any ideas of which kind to buy? Its not a large area but really need to put something down as we are looking to sell it soon. Thanks.

Ask around and see if anyone has sod that is shade grass. If not... and you're in a pinch... I vote you get some regular sod lay it down, then overseed it with shady seed. Repeat the overseed in a couple weeks.

Check locally what kind of grass will grow in the shade down south where you are. What grows up here likely wouldn't work where you are.

I've tried for probably the last 10 years to get grass to grow on the shaded west side of our house and I'm about ready to give up. I've tried shade mixes of every sort and they just don't seem to take. I'm about ready to just mulch the whole thing and be done with it.

Grass seed sucks. Sod is instant green. That is all I will mess with.
