So I just moved in to a new apartment. Place is great, has central air. I decide to buy a digital thermostat that I can program to turn off when I'm not here. I order one off Amazon and watch the shipping status. I look at it today and it says its been delivered. I didn't see anything when I walked in. So I call UPS and do the automated tracking thing, again says its been delivered.

As I'm about to hang up on the automated thing, I hear it say it was delivered to 8535...my address is 8532. I look at the order, sure enough I typed it in wrong. So I'm like, its 2 buildings down, I'll walk over and see if its sitting outside or something.

I go over to the apartment, not outside, so I ring the doorbell. This little girl answers the door, about 12 or 13 yrs old. I tell her my name and explain that I accidentally shipped a package here. She responds...
"We didn' get no package. We ain't got it. The UPS man left here a bit ago."

I leave and go back to my place and call UPS and talk to an operator this time. They said the package was delivered, and they could send someone to go get it and deliver it to me but the shipper has to contact them.

...I'm thinking right, like these people are going to give it back to the UPS guy. But I get online and chat with amazon anyway.....They tell me they are sorry about the mistake (MY mistake mind you), and give me a full refund on the purchase and tell me to go ahead an order another one myself.

    Go Amazon...booo society

Amazon is great. I've never had an issue with them.

That was cool that they even offered a refund for your own admitted mistake.

Well, amazon refunded me my money, and I ordered a new one and should get it tomorrow...I don't feel like getting into a confrontation with people I don't even know....especially since I doubt the parents are going to be any better than the kids.

Years ago in Orlando, I ordered a new Denon AVR-3300 from a NY shop. UPS delivered it to the other side of the neighborhood. About 6pm, some college kid walks up with my 40lb box (with Denon logos all over it) and says- "I bet you are waiting for this."

    Very cool of him.
