spark knock

    had to change intake on my 454, i know i am off a bit when the dizzy dropped into oil pump shaft, will this cause spark knock?

    What's your compression? May need to run a higher octane fuel.

    If you got the timing off a little it could but just readjust it back to where it was before and you should be fine.

    i am running super unleaded.have not thrown a light on it yet, but i know when it dropped in it was not where it came out as i did mark the fiewall, from the mark to where it actually set in was about 1.5 inch diff.

    Yup. The timing light will tell you the full story.

    ok, reset the dizzy in, set timing at 12 degrees with vacuum advance unplugeed, running 91 octane super, still getting spark knock, more so when it is warm then cold. any ideas ?

    me too. this is driving me mental. change intake and carb and goes to crap, i want my vega back !!!!!
