I have a 1974 Camaro Z28 with a small block Chevy 350 engine it has a new powermaster starter new powermaster alternator new Optima battery sometimes the car will not crank and I cannot get any fire to the switch but if I go up under the car and touch the solenoids on the starter with a screwdriver the car will crank over then after that it cranks over fine every time but sometimes I cannot get anything from it to crank what should I look for or what should I do to try to solve this problem thank you

Check your neutral safety switch. Its job is to kill the starter power any time the transmission isn't in park or neutral (automatic) or if the clutch isn't depressed (manual tranny).

Do you still have the stock linkage .The neutral safety switch is on the lower column

On a manual tranny Camaro, the neutral safety switch should be up on the top of the clutch pedal under the dash so it gets activated when you depress the clutch pedal.

Also too, I've seen connection issues going through the firewall bulkhead connector.

I also wonder too, on those times it doesn't crank, leave the door open to where the dome light comes and then try cranking it over. If the dome light goes off you might be loosing main power into the car. If it stays on and doesn't crank then it's probably past or inside the ignition switch, to and through safety switches and/or then to and through the firewall and down to the starter solenoid.
