Still Winter here

We still have 3' of snow in our yard, today spring starts at 4:24pm. I got hosed.

i have some passes to Magic and some other smaller mountains, i really would like to ski Magic, but they have limited snowmaking, so its kind of a toss up, they could be open, but it could also suck, and not be worth it. But, yeah, the big dudes should still be open, and if i need to i can drive to Jay too.

Gore is cool, whiteface is good, but skis really narrow, and i doubt i can do more than a day there. Problem with Gore and Whiteface is, those are your options. if they arent so good, theres no retreating to a different resort within reasonable driving.

Bear valley resort, near Tahoe. Never heard of it, so i always am skeptical when i see pics on the internet like this, but it might be accurate.

Some melting is slowly starting to happen here in my neck of the woods.
Pretty soon those pesky potholes are gonna start to appear and cause trouble LOL.

At what point is it "look at that beautiful snow?" Probably way past that by now.

Brighton ski resort in Utah, just went over the 700" mark, with very little fanfare. This is a good year for Utah, but Utah usually has fairly consistant snowfall year to year. If you look at Tahoe, year to year snowfall is all over the map. Brighton is like, "hey Tahoe, nice snowfall, but hold my beer"

No, I won't move, but history has shown that a difficult Winter like this will inspire some of the less desirable immigrants to go back home where they came from, and that makes this a better place to live if you are willing to shovel some snow.

Does that mean us also! we are all immigrants. My family came over in 1778 to a little place called Brooklyn New Brunswick.

Funny how Falgstaff, AZ is one of the snowiest cities in the US.
It gets about 260" at Snowbowl, the skiing area.
When I was in school there, we got over 140" one winter.
Only thing is, it actually melts so there are no giant drifts that stay around all winter long.

I guess they designate a city by population, but googling "snowiest cities", its not a real impressive list when you compare them to some towns near ski resorts that get much more snow. Some fun facts, the town of Crested Butte had one snow day for schools, like 4 years ago, when they got like 10' of snow over 2 days or something. Same at steamboat, i read a while ago, and i think it was they have never had a snow day. Cool, right? We had 2-3" last week, and they closed school the day before. But the previous time they had 2" and didnt close schools all the parents went ballistic, cause its the friggin end of the world when it snows here.
