I have a 81z with t tops and so far every subframe connectors I've tried hit the rear floor and I cant mount to the rear. I was trying to stay away from weld on but not out of the question anyone have a option that may work with the deeper floor ?

Some years ago I helped my Son put a set of Competition Engineering bolt on subframe connectors on his 80 Z28 with T Tops. They fit just right without hitting the floor.

I"m surprised they don't fit. The 80 and 81 bodies should be exactly the same. Is is possible that your car body has sagged lower than original? T Top cars are weak in the center and do sag.

Stock rubber body mounts? They are probably worn and need to be replaced with solid mounts if you are going to run the subframe connectors.

That's good. There are probably just floor variations from years of use and you just need to jack up that hydraulic floor jack a bit more. "Massage" the floor just a bit until it fits.
