Good collection of articles about the Oso mudslide. Mutiply what happened there by the hundreds if the earthquake predictions are true, and youll see why I have no idea what to do.

    Neither does anyone else.

This takes for granted the fact that either I or my wife could get even close to our home, or that a river or two hasnt rerouted itself and wiped out our town, which are both possibilites. On the night of the Oso landslide, they were trying to evacuate Arlington, which was about 15 miles away, because the slide blocked and damned the river, and there was a high possibility that the dam would break and send a massive wall of water downstream and take everything in its path away with it. Luckily, the river cut a channel that night and drained itself.

    So what to do?

I can hit a golf ball into Lake Erie from my house, so there's my water

    I'll pillage for the rest

I like the idea of living in an area that nobody in their right mind would live in in a doomsday situation...the very snowy North

You only like it now while the gas/electricity are on

Taking a shower in December with no power is going to be a potentially deadly affair

Because it is a total FICTION movie.

Dirty Harry had a revolver that held 15, and Cammando literally took down a small army because they couldnt shoot and he had gns with magazines that held thousands of rounds.

This is real life, although your plan is based in total fiction. You wont last an hour.

Well youre the only on here who keeps referencing Rambo and I just pointed out that Rambo survived. This is a survival thread after all.

Now as far as helping you with your problem of getting home after the roads Dont work any more. Kick off your high heels and put on a pair of hiking shoes. Or hike up your skirt and swim.

I can always count on a few of you to muddy up the thread.

Please focus on the ideals of survival.

As to isolated incidents, Mt. St. Helens was huge but isolated; that allows the rest of us to help.

I keep trying to push the focus on something that would cause the trucks to stop...and how to survive after that.
