My Shafiroff racing 427sbc is running Dog bone Lifters with a Hydraulic roller cam with .595 /.598 lift and 415lbs / 420lbs on the nose of the rocker arm at max lift
That motor has an aftermarket block such as Dart, right ? Block's Not GM, right ?

Standard base circle ? Or different ?

Pulled and inspected all lifters. Nothing noticeable. Put it back together and the tapping is gone. Of course lost my timing pulling that distributor and now it won’t it idles at 1100 rpm, before was 950 rpm. Maybe off by a tooth on the distributor.

Had this thing tuned a year ago by Modern Muscle in Plainfield and Illinois and have had hands off fun with car. Might go back. While Good fiddling with a car is fun, my fiddling almost always leads to more fiddling of disappointment.

Is it true you had pulled intake and found a roller lifter twisted/turned in its bore?

Is it true that roller cam did Not suffer damage to its lobes?

If both are true, you should buy lottery tickets

Having that extra cylinder firing might bump the idle speed :)
But seriously, that is good news. If the cam and lifters aren't damaged and you have a good new spider, that's a win.

Did you spin it over by hand to see what the interaction was like with the lifters and dog bones? nothing pushing the spider legs up?

lifter twisted in bore = "roller lifter turned side ways"
... Looks like one hydraulic roller lifter turned side ways. Will inspect for damaged and then move on to figure out why the two hold down fingers broke. Is there a better retainer for this application.?

Will clean out anti freeze.

InspectEd everything ….. for the two tabs to be bent up , that had to be a bent tray.
figured out timing , it running pretty well
except at idle and at cruise the AFR gauge goes crazy lean. Give it gas and it registers right where it was before.
This was running great before the “lifter noise” came on. Now it’s quiet and responsive , yet the AFR reading going lean at idle is puzzling.

Maybe slightly different lash adjustment on reassembly affected low speed mixtures? Just guessing.
