Hmmm, very interesting. I would think that would have been late model design because of safety features being implemented..

Wow, that's Beefy.. I actually think that is more structurally sound than what they went to, which is the smaller bracket that is spot welded to the lower drop down panel that supports the lower portion of the quarter panel. Good info to know, specially when looking at early 70's Camaro's..
Question for the day on this, is there anything on the internet that tells you this, or is this just tribal knowledge??

Nothing online that I could find. Someone just chimed in on my thread and said it was a early 70 thing. Which I beleive because there were a lot of one-off things for 1970 camaros because of the differences of the 2 plants and the strike delays. It might even be a difference in plants. There was a difference in passenger door mirror mounting as well between plants. Mine was pop riveted on, the other plant was sheet metal screwed on. People didn't believe they ever pop riveted the mirrors until someone chimed in with it being a plant difference.

totally different than my 71, i have had 2 71's and 1 70 i did not get totally involved in the 70 that i had but some of the things i remember about it was that there were some differences.that was 1977 mind a little fuzzy car seemed tighter though, o those were the days.

The plants I think would have been different. That would make more sense for that era and for the plants...It doesn’t make sense that one plant used one kind of bracket and the other used another. But those were strange times with the strike and everything. Throw on some more tribal knowledge, poo ain’t that what this is all about, no wait, those are war stories that we tell our kids...LOL
Listen here Johnny, when I was replacing that quarter panel on that there Camaro.....

Both plants used the first design brace ,I have seen a number of Norwood cars with the brace like yours ! I am not picking on you or your car here !!! I looked back at the passenger door mirror and I don’t believe Van Nuys installed that mirror. I don’t recognize the “X”on the bracket, and the gasket is not the 9832126 correct for the custom mirror . You can compare the picture I posted. Hope this is helpful
