I'll note - don't just run turndowns on the mufflers. Most are designed to have at least 12" of pipe coming out of them. Not to mention it gets very "throbby" inside the car.
If I was doing this today, I'd be tempted to use run the pipes diagonally outbound and dump down-out near the sides of the car

I had that same kit from Torque Tech on a 502 in my 77. Awesome fit and install. They were in Valdosta Georgia.

I used my old cast off 90's "Mullet-Flowmaster" cases to start with, and a Flowmaster "U-Weld" it kit for 250$, 6 band clamps...some Tim Hortons and a chop saw & a MIG and I went to town. I have built another set of mufflers that worked real well, 40$ cases to start with.

    I got 381$ in it....but that's no labour.

For those of you that cut off the tailpipes before the bumper...have you had any issues with exhaust gas building up inside the car through the trunk and back seat?

I had a Flowmaster 2.5” system cut off inside the rear axle hump for a “stealth” installation, and ran it that way for a few years. I always reeked of exhaust, and caught myself getting low on oxygen inside the car a few times. Finally I had tailpipes welded on to fix the problem.

Nobody else has had that issue?
