I'd love to build one of these. I believe there is a company producing kits now
Back when I was a kid (A long long time ago) I was very interested in Cheetahs, Chaparrals and Grand Sport Corvettes.
Cool car but did anyone else notice the oil pressure dropping to zero under hi G conditions? That thing needs a dry sump!
I thought I'd seen a Cheetah recently. They had one on Barrett-Jackson in January. They always reminded me of the Hot Wheels' Red Baron.
From an affordability standpoint, I'd still like to get an Opel GT someday.
Shell valley. I sent away for one of their brochures a while back. I would love to build one, but I doubt it would ever happen. "complete" kits start at $20k
Ive never really liked the looks of the cheetah honestly with driver sitting over the rear axle. Just an odd looking car to me but I am sure it would have been a beast if it had ever been able to race.
I owned an Original for a while in the 80's - I couldn't fit in it, my legs are too long
Technically, the driver is not sitting "over" the rear axle - just immediately in front of it. The layout balances the car front to back for better handling. I love the look of it actually, and surprised nothing similar has been done since.
Shell Valley claims their chassis are stretched "I think about 6"" to address this issue.
Cool cars......Aurora Model Motoring made them in HO scale for slot car racing. Very popular back then. I have several.
