Bought ‘81 as a roller. Had incorrect driver side inner tie rod. Hit the frame in two places and was curved wrong direction. Looked like a passenger side the previous owner had flipped over. Got a new one, driver side inner. Curved right direction. Hits sub frame on right hand turns. What am I missing?

Others have had a similar issue. Do a search here. Also research idler and pitman arm lengths. I believe there are two different ones.
Check your VIN.
If the 8th digit is an “A” or “K”... It was built as a V6.
Yes, the V6 parts are different.
I believe that’s to clear the balancer which is 3”-4" (or so) farther back than a V8.
A V8 works with the V6 steering components but you can’t mix the parts between the two.
The idler arm is the same but the drag link (center link) is definitely different.
V6 = Moog DS883
V8 = Moog DS829
Tie rods ends may also be different.
Check auto parts store listings to figure out which pieces are different.

To me it looks like a mismatch between the idler and pitman arms. The pitman looks longer and is what's pushing link backwards when it turns.
