tilt steering wheel swap

    does anyone know if a tilt wheel column from a 79 camaro will fit in a 70 camaro?

    Don't quote me, but I would think so. Don't think there was any difference there from 70-81.

    Look at the end of the column where the intermediate shaft hooks to, iirc early cars were splined and later were D shaped.

    I put a 79 column in my 70. Mike N is correct the 79 has a double D intermediate shaft and the 70 uses a splined shaft. There are also some differences in the wiring on the plug but, you can moves the pin locations to correct that.

    so did you have to change the lower shaft also?

    I have a DSE subframe so I had to change the shaft anyways, I used the Borgesen u- joints and shaft. You'll have to change the intermediate shaft and re-pin the connector to use the 79 column.
