It is definitely worth doing George. A magnetic base dial indicator is cheap. It takes some patience and time, but if u ever have a warranty issue, they will ask right away if you did that step.

In the installation of my TR6060 Magnum 6spd, SST actually asks to send in the "before and after" readings/diagram of the bellhousings runout. Don't send this in, no warranty.

Needless to say, it's important.

Sure I understand.
I will buy a dial indicator and measure it.
I'm just not sure if there is an eccentric mounting fixture for bellhousing included in the package.
I still have to look into that.

And come to think of it, I don't even know if my transmission is under warranty since it came from overseas.
So if the warranty stayed in the states and something breaks I will be very happy 🤦‍♀️

In one video they mention offset dowel pins.
I found a few. But I'm probably not sure which one to buy.


I may be getting ahead of myself, but I'd rather be prepared. I will be renting a workshop from a friend for a day and I would hate to stop at this thing.

Is it possible to prepare for this and buy these pins in advance (is there a dimension that is most often used?) or do I have to buy the part after I measure something?

You have NO IDEA what dowels you will need IF any at all.....
My stock dowels and Bell were within specs.....
Maybe a little less concern of the warranty and more about having the Transmission work right?? If you install it NOT withing specs it might possibly not shift correctly besides wear out very fast......

I have no choice.
I have to buy all 3 sets because I can't afford the time delay at work, in which I am limited by staying on a friend's jack.

And another question.
How did you target and mount the shifter hump on the center tunnel?
Weld or glue?

Welding - outline the shape of the shifter hump, cut it out, center it together and weld it all around.
Like this...

Or guing/riveting- Trace the shape of the hump, subtract.... one inch, cut and glue...?

i wish my hump fit my floor that well.... was the hump in all 4spd cars?
All factory 4-spd cars, at least early-2nd gen, came with the hump. I kind of wish mine didn't, because I'm not fond of the factory console. Plus, the Hurst shifter boot I love, I can tell, was really designed for automatic cars getting converted to manual.

Here is how it looks right now. I'm really pleased with the Cupholdersplus.com console. I get it that guys (and gals) would want an original, or repro console. I really do. I just don't like them very much.

I also have a TKX from Silver Sport Transmission. It's AWESOME.

Old school, and really old shifter boot I just had to use. It came with the pile of parts I got with the car. And now I'm done jacking your thread, George. I'm sorry, I'm not ready to sell Butternut yet ;)
