TKX Conversion 1978 Type LT

The driveshaft length for my TKO (same as TKX) is 45.6875 inches. Silver Sport says 2nd gen driveshafts are all within 45.5 and 46.5 inches with these transmissions.

this is interesting. my stock shaft, from my th350 which i reused with the muncie was 49.5 center to center. from the tip of the yoke to the end of the tailhousing on my tkx is 48.5. i guess that would still put me in the 46" range. I thought there was only supposed to be like a 2" difference in length though.

you can see what a pain that shifter is. forever it just had a thick piece of rubber over it and then the console... after 25 years i built this and then a year two later i rip everything back out for the txk...genius lol

My driveshaft going from Muncie to TKX had to be shortened 1"

I think mine if going to be about 2.75 shorter but my auto driveshaft with the 4 spd was long. 49.5 with probably less than 1/2" clearance

Driveshaft length can also vary between 10 bolt and 12 bolt due to depth of pinion yoke. When I took out the 10 bolt and put the 12 bolt in my driveshaft came up 7/8" short.

So I'm curious how it will be with my driveshaft.
Everyone is shortening, but after talking to Chris Sitzmore, he told me that I will need a longer shaft for the TKX than the TH350

I don't know anyone that's needed a longer shaft. the tkx is longer than both a turbo 350 and the Muncie
