So true.
In many cases you are better off saving your nickels for a few years and buying the completely restored classic car.
(Or one that has been "mostly" restored and is being sold pending a divorce due to the above circumstances.)
One of my friends is a body man. Those are almost his exact words. He told me, even having a body shop, he can't really make out restoring cars from bad condition. And they charge customers $90/hour. He said "At least get one you can already enjoy driving because you may never get to that point otherwise."
