One of my friends is a body man. Those are almost his exact words. He told me, even having a body shop, he can't really make out restoring cars from bad condition. And they charge customers $90/hour. He said "At least get one you can already enjoy driving because you may never get to that point otherwise."So true.
In many cases you are better off saving your nickels for a few years and buying the completely restored classic car.
(Or one that has been "mostly" restored and is being sold pending a divorce due to the above circumstances.)
